Rohit Sharma was slammed by Sourav Ganguly, Ravi Shastri and Harbhajan Singh for his pathetic captaincy on Day 1 of the World Test Championship final against Australia. The Aussies finished the day on 327/3, with Travis Head unbeaten on 146.
Steve Smith was also at the crease, having accumulated 95 against ordinary bowling. Ganguly was miffed with Ravichandran Ashwin’s exclusion as he felt that a bowler with more than 400 Test wickets deserved to play.
He also pointed fingers at Rohit’s captaincy, who failed to use his bowlers properly.
On the other hand, Shastri felt that Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj’s opening spell was too long, and the two should have been used twice in a short spell in the opening session. He further said that Rohit missed the trick with Ravindra Jadeja.
Harbhajan Singh didn’t like the defensive field placements by the Indian captain and said that he should have attacked the rivals more to take wickets.
