Shah Rukh Khan‘s most ambitious project Ra.One was mounted at a very high budget. Though it earned Rs 135 crore at the box office, the film was still deemed as a flop by the industry folks. After 12 years, many filmmakers have now started using VFX in most of their movies such as Pathaan, Adipurush, Brahmastra among others. But moviegoers still believe that Ra.One was ahead of its time in terms of its visual effects.
In a new interview, director Anubhav Sinha was asked whether Ra.One was judged too harshly at the time of its release. To which, he replied saying that he always finds criticism harsher. He added that if someone not involved with the film says it was harsh, then he would latch on to that.
He further said that the film’s relevance today speaks volumes of his success. He is a big believer of how long a film lives on, which ultimately determines its legacy. It gives him a lot of happiness to see that his film, which was so harshly judged and criticised 12 years ago, is now being called ahead of its time by the audience.

Earlier, Sinha had said that he never considered Ra.One to be a flop despite everyone calling it. But he was left heartbroken when SRK himself had once called it a flop on television. Though the movie didn’t earn as expected, but SRK’s statement hurt Sinha deeply.
Apart from Shah Rukh Kha, Ra.One also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal in lead roles. The film’s VFX, music and concept is still etched in everyone’s heart and mind.
