No. 10 Kansas State gets one last crack at No. 3 TCU to claim the Big 12 championship and throw the College Football Playoff into disarray in a single stroke.
The Wildcats appeared to have the Horned Frogs on the ropes in the teams’ Oct. 22 meeting, with visiting Kansas State jumping out to a 28-10 second-quarter lead. But the Horned Frogs scored right before the half to cut the deficit to 28-17, prompting a three-touchdown second half in which TCU won 38-28.
That loss likely sits heavy on the minds of Chris Klieman and Co. as they aim to avenge their October loss. Whether Sonny Dykes can keep his team from falling victim to the attempt remains to be seen, but the Horned Frogs’ track record suggests he can.
TCU has five ranked victories and five one-possession wins this season, giving the team the top overall strength of record in the FBS. The Big 12 championship is the biggest stage of the season so far for the Horned Frogs, but they haven’t shrunk from any challenge yet this season.

There’s more on the line in this game than Big 12 supremacy and a berth in the Sugar Bowl, however. If TCU finishes the season off with a 13-0 record, it will give the team its first Playoff berth after barely missing out in 2014. A loss likely ends the team and conference’s hopes of ending that Playoff drought.
