The police said that a case was registered late on Tuesday after which the accused, identified as Sandeep Hedge, was arrested.
According to the police, the complainant, Arpita Aayush Khan Sharma, Sunday had kept a pair of diamond earrings in her makeup tray inside the bathroom.
An officer said, “On Tuesday, Sharma noticed the earrings were missing following which she called the security supervisor who quizzed the domestic help. Later, when it was found that Hedge had stolen the earrings, Sharma lodged a complaint at the Khar police station.”
A case under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) was registered and the accused was placed under arrest. The pair of earrings was seized from Hedge’s house in Vile Parle, the police said.
