Not long ago, some Indians witnessed the rare miracle of Northern lights displaying in the night sky of Ladakh. This was indeed rare as Northern lights usually make their appearance in the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. The phenomenon occurred due to a rare solar storm that occurred because the light particles from the sun collided with Earth’s magnetic field.

These lights are indeed a coveted experience and travellers often visiting remote places, get to witness such miraculous experiences. Many videos on the internet display the splendour of the Northern lights. But imagine enjoying this experience on your flight! Such a thing happened to an Instagram user Rachel Levin, who recorded this event live on her smartphone and uploaded it to the social media site.

In a video shared by her, one can hear the pilot announcing to the passengers that there are chances that they could get to see northern lights from the plane. Astonished by this announcement, Rachel and her co-passengers can’t keep calm. In the next instance, we see a huge green blob floating in the sky, which is the Northern Lights.

The video has been on Instagram and has gathered more than 4 million views and more than 25 thousand likes. Thousands of people expressed their astonishment at the video in the comment section:
“That’s so cool”, one user wrote, while another wrote, “You are so lucky! This is on my bucket list” A third wrote, “Wow. I’m so jealous”.

It is understandable if you are in awe of the Northern Lights after seeing the influencer’s post about it. Northern Lights can be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the wonderful world that we live in and even consider embarking on a journey to see it for yourself.

Witnessing the Northern Lights from an aircraft is a different experience altogether. The view from above is breathtaking, but it is not the same as being on the ground and surrounded by natural beauty. Additionally, the Northern Lights can be unpredictable, and it is not always possible to see them from an aircraft.

People like to see the aurora borealis or Northern Lights primarily because they are beautiful, natural, and awe-inspiring. The vibrant colours and mesmerizing movements are a result of the sun’s charged particles colliding with Earth’s atmosphere. Additionally, in many parts of the world, they are seen as spiritual or mystical events with cultural significance. Therefore, these lights are also revered by many people with respect.

A Quora user, Trausti Thor Johannsson was recently asked about his experience of seeing the Aurora Borealis. In response, Johannsson described the feeling as magical and otherworldly, with colours so vibrant and constantly changing, almost like a dance in the sky. He further described the humbling experience of witnessing such natural beauty, and the importance of appreciating the small things in life. For Johannsson, watching the Aurora Borealis is a truly unforgettable experience.
