Bangalore South election results live: BJP’s M Krishnappa wins by 50,000 votes, retains turf for fourth time in a row

Karnataka election result 2023: The Bangalore South constituency went to poll on May 10 and saw a tight race between BJP leader M Krishnappa and Congress candidate RK Ramesh. The two had previously clashed in 2018 – with the BJP securing a landslide. Krishnappa, a heavyweight leader in the region, had won by a margin of over 30,000 votes. He has incidentally been a MLA from Bangalore South since 2008.

Bangalore South is the largest Assembly constituency in Karnataka and has more than 581,000 voters. This number incidentally is three-and-a-half-times more than the state’s smallest constituency – Sringeri.

Bangalore South Constituency Results:

BJP M Krishnappa won the by securing 51.35% of the total vote in Bangalore south constituency. The percentage is equal to 1,95,564 votes he got in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023. Congress’ RK Ramesh was the runner up of the election with 38.35% of votes, which was equivalent to 1,46,252 votes.

What happened in Karnataka elections 2018?

In 2018 assemly elections, the ruling BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 104 seats. It was followed by the Congress with 78 seats. Janata Dal Secular secured 37 seats. In 224 assembly constituencies, a total of 2,615 candidates contested the polls.
