Sunny Deol says Bollywood low on passion, answers why industry is struggling: ‘Mistakes are made as everyone gives their opinion on set’ | Bollywood News

Actor Sunny Deol is gearing up for the release of his latest action film, Jatt, which will hit theatres on April 10. His filmography includes titles like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (1991), Damini (1993), Ghatak (1996), Border (1997) and Gadar 2 (2023). The actor went through a long hiatus, and after delivering many unsuccessful character roles, he made a box office comeback with Gadar 2. The film amassed a gross collection in India of Rs 620.5 crore on an approximate budget of Rs 80 crore, according to Sacnilk.

In an interview with Komal Nahta, the actor talked about his upcoming releases and even gave his two cents about the current state of Bollywood. “The passion that we possessed in our industry is somewhat lacking now. The southern industry learned from our film and have now overtaken us, that is why we are remaking their films.” The actor added that according to him the current actors, producers and director don’t possess that belief anymore.

The actor supported the argument that too many chefs ruin the stew, and Bollywood was suffering from this very problem. “The story is the hero, and the director is the boss, and we should work according to those two entities, but we think we know everything, and everyone who has a monitor in front of them will give their opinion, and that leads to mistakes,” said the actor. The actor added that the audience wants an experience, and they need a story that they can take home.

Deol also reflected on working with director Rajkumar Santoshi on Lahore 1947 and said, “I think our collaboration is going to generate excitement because our previous three films became cult classics, and due to digital platforms, those films have stayed relevant and alive.”

Jatt has been directed by Gopichand Malineni and will also include stars like Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Vineet Kumar Singh and Ramya Krishnan.
