According to excerpts of the speech released by the White House ahead of the scheduled address, the US President is likely to declare that the US democracy is bruised but “unbowed and unbroken”, news agency Reuters reported. Biden’s address is expected to be among the biggest speeches of his presidency so far, coming at a time of deep divisions in Congress and the country.
Biden is also expected to use his speech before Congress to highlight his efforts to create jobs, fight inflation and improve the nation’s infrastructure. The president, who’s expected to announce in the next few months that he’ll seek reelection, faces a tough political environment and a divided Congress. The parents of Tyre Nichols, who was severely beaten by police officers in Memphis and later died, are among those expected to be in the audience, as per an AP report.
