Villager alerts loco pilot in Vijayawada division on breakage of rail at joint; averts accident

A villager named Sunil, who observed a crack in the welding between two tracks, alerted the loco pilot. The train was stopped near Gudur railway station, under Vijayawada division, on Sunday (March 9, 2025). “The engineering staff rushed to the spot, rectified the problem and resumed the operations at around 7.40 a.m.,” said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil.

“A breakage developed at the joint of two rails, which was covered by fish plates, a little away from Gudur railway station. The villager, who noticed the crack alerted the railway officers. The Gudur Station Master stopped Howrah-Bengaluru Express, alerted the Engineering staff, who rectified the problem,” the DRM told The Hindu.

“Howrah Express was delayed for about half-an-hour. But, all other trains are running as per the schedule,” Mr. Patil said.
