Gary Neville noticed what Jurgen Klopp did ‘for the first time’ after Liverpool defeat at Wolves

Gary Neville has criticised the Liverpool players and claims the signs are “worrying” following their 3-0 defeat at Wolves on Saturday.

The Reds stooped to new lows against Julen Lopetegui’s side as goals from Craig Dawson, Ruben Neves and a Joel Matip own goal compiled their misery since the turn of the year. Leicester City’s Wout Faes has more goals than any player in Jurgen Klopp’s side since the return of the World Cup as similar miserable statistics mount.

Wolves’ win saw them move away from the relegation zone as Liverpool’s hopes of a late surge into the top four took another blow. The former Manchester United full-back lamented the Reds players for their “shambolic” display.

“Really poor, I’ve only seen the highlights, I watched the five to 10 minutes. Defensively… they were shambolic, individually, collectively, easy to play against, it’s not going perfectly well for them up front either,” Neville said speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast.

[Cody] Gakpo, [Darwin] Nunez, [Mohamed] Salah just haven’t hit it off yet as a front three – that might take some time. But the rest of the team is in a bit of a mess, they’re conceding really, really poor goals.

“To be fair, for the first time after a game I’ve probably seen Jurgen Klopp in some way apologising. Almost like where do I start reaction after the game. Look there’s internationals still in that back four, all of them are and nowhere near good enough, individually and collectively there’s no excuse for that.
