Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, is gearing up for its release ahead of Republic Day. The film has the patriotic appeal that often resonates with audiences, and given Akshay’s past success in similar roles, expectations are high.
However, as far as the opening day is concerned, the movie is facing a tough start and will need a major turnaround at the box office. Here’s a detailed day 1 advance booking report.

To attract more viewers, Sky Force is offering free tickets up to ₹400 for the weekend, which is pathetic to say the least and shows the dire status of Bollywood today.
Republic Day week is typically a lucrative period for films, but such offers suggest a lack of buzz surrounding the movie. Multiplexes are relying more on discounts and corporate bookings than the film’s actual content to drive footfalls.

Patriotic films based on true events usually spark curiosity, especially during a Republic Day release. However, the recent string of failures in Akshay Kumar’s career seems to be affecting the film’s overall appeal.
Over the past couple of years, Akshay has struggled with consecutive disasters, resulting in a negative perception among audiences.

With Sky Force, he’s hoping for a much-needed comeback. While positive word-of-mouth could still help the film in the long run, the opening day collections are set to be quite poor.
As of Wednesday, 7 PM IST, the film has sold tickets worth 30 lakhs gross through day 1 advance bookings, as per trade websites. This figure is dismal, especially given the film’s large scale.
For context, Akshay’s previous film Sarfira managed to sell 75 lakhs worth of tickets for its opening day. Sky Force is projected to sell around ₹1.5 crore in tickets and is on track for an opening of 4-5 crores.
Nationwide, the film has sold over 12,000 tickets for day 1, with more than 7,000 tickets sold at major cinema chains like PVR INOX and Cinepolis.
The advance bookings have to pick up substantially, or else Akshay Kumar is staring at another disastrous opening.
