There is significant anxiety surrounding the Trump administration’s stance on H-1B visas, especially after his past term, where he made life difficult for H-1B holders by tightening visa policies.
Now, following his executive order denying birthright citizenship for children of individuals on temporary visas like H-1Bs, Trump was directly asked by a reporter if he intends to keep or scrap the H-1B program.

Trump provided an elaborate response [Watch video below]. Based on his comments, he appeared to support the H-1B program, even though he hinted at tightening certain aspects. He emphasized that he has no intention of scrapping the program, despite ongoing discussions to the contrary.
Trump stated that he likes both sides of the argument—those opposing and those supporting the H1-B program. However, he made it clear that he does not plan to end it.

He expressed the need for competent individuals to come to the U.S. and clarified that this isn’t limited to engineers but includes people at all levels. Trump also acknowledged his familiarity with the program, noting that he has used it for his businesses.
This appears to be good news for H-1B holders, as Trump did not outright disappoint them. However, given that many of his supporters are vocal against H-1B visas and against Indians, it’s likely that he will implement stricter measures to appease his base.
