Indian Students Missing: Heading For US Border?

The mystery of Indian students disappearing from Colleges in Canada has left immigration officials on the edge. As speculation of illegal immigration increases, Indians’ dreams of studying abroad are put under scrutiny.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), nearly 50,000 international students didn’t show up at their designated colleges during March and April 2024. Among these nearly 20,000 students were from India, accounting for 5.4% of students recorded by the government.

Some students are suspected of illegal US border crossings to live a better life in America with high-paying jobs. Indian authorities are monitoring the situation and trying to find links between illegal migration networks in India.

On the other hand, Canadian officials refuse to accept there is a lapse in border security and affirm that the missing students remain in Canada, working to gain permanent residency instead of attending classes.

However, the critics are questioning the Canadian government. They believe that this is a result of a lack of oversight and an increasing number of foreign agents indulging in Visa fraud.

In the end, there is no official record to prove anything and it is all speculation and unreliable claims at this point. Nonetheless, it’s a disturbing trend that exposes the cracks in Canada’s immigration system.
