Technicians Don’t Have the Comfort of Actors

Despite all the Pushpa 2 controversies, there is no doubt that music director Devi Sri Prasad has done a good job in the film. His songs Sooseki, Peelings, and even to some extent Kissik all worked well for the film. He couldn’t match the hype, but he didn’t disappoint either completely.

Now DSP has opened up about his remuneration after the success of Pushpa.

He said, “Yeah, of course, it did. It’s a good question because I think a lot of other composers and singers should know this.”

He explained the basic idea of supply and demand. When a film is successful, actors usually get a big pay increase, sometimes several times more than before.

He also noted that actors and technicians see pay increases differently. Actors do fewer films, so their pay rises more sharply. Technicians, like DSP, work on many projects each year, so their pay increases gradually based on the success and demand for their work.

Despite the financial success, Devi Sri Prasad made it clear that art comes before money in his approach to work.

He stated, “We are all artists, and we are all working for art; sometimes it’s not always about the money… First art and then money!”

He concluded by saying that while money is necessary for a comfortable life, excitement for a project and a passion for art should take precedence, even if it means working within a limited budget.
