Can Cinema Lovers Day Save?

Can Cinema Lovers Day Save?

As the box office looks to pick up pace this weekend with two Bollywood releases with Emergency and Azaad, it is a tough battle between the two as both the films have minimal hype and underwhelming expectations.

Both the films will be faced by films like Fateh, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Re-Release), Game Changer, Pushpa 2, and Marco. While there competition is still minting money at the box office, it will be hard for both the films to register a good start.

Given Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, the film has been facing several controversies ahead of its release and looks to appeal to a small section of the audience. On the other hand, Ajay Devgn’s Azaad looked good initially but the recent hype for the film has been a low blow to the makers.

With Ajay Devgn’s presence, the film was looking to have a decent start at the box office but as it seems, things are not looking good for Azaad as well. Talking about bookings, Kangana’s Emergency is ahead of Azaad in terms of pre-booking sales.

However, these numbers are drastically low given that there is only one day to go before the film’s theatrical release. As their opening day also marks Cinema Lovers’ Day, the ticket prices for both films are available for Rs 99.

This would have been a boost in sales for both the films, but as it stands, the pre-booking numbers are low for both the films which would give both the films a sloppy and slow start at the box office. With such low numbers, both the films would not be able to cross the 2 crore mark on their first day.

Only time will tell if positive word of mouth will help both films achieve respectable lifetime earnings.
