Salman Khan Dependent on Titles: What About Sikandar?

A peculiar aspect of Salman Khan’s career has been the perceived link between his movies’ titles and their box office success.

There’s a popular notion that films with long titles, such as Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and Tiger Zinda Hai, tend to be blockbusters, while those with shorter titles, like Veer, Auzaar, and Radhe, often flop. By this logic, doubts naturally arise about the fate of his upcoming film Sikandar.

In this context, Salman Khan’s upcoming film Sikandar has naturally drawn attention. With a short title and a director, A.R. Murugadoss, whose recent projects haven’t performed well, expectations are cautious.

However, reducing the success of a movie to just its title seems overly simplistic. Also, co-star Rashmika Mandanna, riding high on her recent successes, could be a game-changer.

Yet, history provides ample contradictions to the short-title theory. Films like Dabangg, Sultan, and Kick—all with short titles—were massive hits.

Meanwhile, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan with a longer title still tanked at the box office. Clearly, it’s not the length of the title but the quality of the content and audience connection that determines a film’s success.

However, if Sikandar defies the superstition or falls into the pattern remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: it’s content, not the title, that ultimately rules the box office.
