NEW DELHI: Congress released its fourth list of candidates for Delhi assembly elections on Wednesday night, announcing names for five constituencies.
Surender Kumar will contest from Bawana seat (reserved for SC) whilst Rahul Dhanak has been nominated for Karol Bagh (reserved for SC).
The remaining three candidates are Sumesh Gupta for Rohini, Virender Bhiduri for Tughlakabad and Arjun Bhadana for Badarpur.
With these five nominations, Congress has now declared candidates for 68 out of Delhi’s 70 assembly seats.
Previously on Tuesday, Congress announced its third list comprising 16 candidates for the February 5 assembly polls in Delhi.
Recent Congress joinee and former AAP MLA Dharam Pal Lakda received the Mundka ticket, whilst former Union minister Krishna Tirath was nominated for Patel Nagar.
The party nominated Rajesh Gupta for Kirari, Kunwar Karan Singh for Model Town, Prem Sharma for Hari Nagar, Harbani Kaur for Janakpuri, Jitender Solanki for Vikaspuri, Sushma Yadav for Najafgarh, Mange Ram for Palam, and Vishesh Tokas for RK Puram.
Additional nominations include Ariba Khan for Okhla, Rajiv Chaudhury for Vishwas Nagar, Kamal Arora for Gandhi Nagar, Jagat Singh for Shahdara, and Bheesham Sharma for Ghonda.
For Gokalpur constituency, Congress has selected Ishwar Bagri, replacing Pramod Kr Jayant.
The Delhi assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting on February 8. The AAP has announced candidates for all 70 seats, whilst BJP has declared 59 candidates.
