Why Shankar Ignored Chiranjeevi’s Advice

The uncertainty surrounding film budgets and the growing costs have become a significant challenge in the industry.

During the release of Waltair Veerayya, Chiranjeevi shared valuable advice for filmmakers. He emphasized the importance of meticulous pre-production work, stating that excessive budget allocation on sets or wasting the time of actors could be avoided.

Instead, he suggested that directors should finalize everything on paper beforehand, conduct workshops with the actors, and work on camera angles in advance to avoid time wastage.

This approach, according to him, would ensure that the film is completed on time without unnecessary expenditures.

However, it seems that Chiranjeevi’s advice wasn’t followed in the case of his son’s recent movie, Game Changer.

Director Shankar recently expressed dissatisfaction with the final output. He mentioned that the initial runtime was five hours, and significant portions had to be trimmed, and, in the process, many good scenes were edited out.

Shankar admitted to not being satisfied with the final product.

This raises questions about how seasoned directors like Shankar are managing the creative process in today’s fast-paced film industry, and what message it sends to the current generation of filmmakers.

The failure of Game Changer also brings to light the challenges of maintaining clarity and efficiency in film production, especially when big-budget projects go through multiple revisions.

However, the entire blame should go to Shankar, as this is not the first time such a costly blunder has occurred. The same was true in the cases of I, 2.0, Indian 2, and now Game Changer.
