Nesippaya, starring debutant Akash Murali, hit theaters today on January 14. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the film also stars Aditi Shankar and Kalki Koechlin.
Director Shankar, accompanied by his daughter Aditi Shankar and other family members, visited Kamala Cinemas in Chennai to watch her film on the big screen.

Interestingly, Shankar’s latest film Game Changer was released in the same theater but was removed and replaced by his daughter’s film after just three days due to poor reception and dismal box office collections.
This gave Shankar a firsthand experience of the audience’s response, as he witnessed his movie fail to sustain even for three days in theaters, despite the prime Pongal festive season.

Shankar has been a top director in the Indian film industry for years, known for making big blockbusters and raising filmmaking standards. But his recent films seem to have lost their appeal.
His recent statements about Game Changer receiving only positive reviews seem out of touch with reality. Online and offline reactions were overwhelmingly negative.

Today, Shankar saw the true impact of Game Changer’s failure when it was removed from Kamala Cinemas after just three days. It must have been an embarrassing moment for him.
