A viral video has sparked a huge conversation about false harassment cases against men. In the video, by IIT Alumni, Prathyusha Challa, she can be seen talking about her brother Sandip’s five-year struggle with a “false” IPC 498A case.
Sandip, an assistant professor in Hyderabad, married a woman from Rajahmundry in February 2019 through an arranged match. The marriage lasted just ten days.

According to Prathyusha, the bride abused Sandip and his family, threatened suicide, and left their home voluntarily.
The ordeal didn’t end after she left because soon after, she filed a dowry harassment case against Sandip, his parents, and even Prathyusha.

Prathyusha claims the marriage was a planned extortion scheme involving the bride, her family, and even her boyfriend.
Sandip has had to travel from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry over 40 times for court hearings, and the case has caused significant mental and financial stress for the family.

In her video titled “Is Suicide the Only Solution?”, Prathyusha shares how the false case has taken a toll on her family’s mental and physical health.
She also explains how the endless court delays, including another postponed hearing on Sandip’s birthday in December, have added to their suffering.
Her video, which has garnered over 3 million views, has struck a chord with many who have faced similar situations.
It sheds light on the challenges families face when dealing with prolonged legal battles stemming from allegedly false allegations.
The case has also raised important questions about the need for judicial reforms to ensure that protective laws are not misused, while still safeguarding genuine victims.
