Sabarmati Report (2024) deals with 2002 Godhra Train Incident but fails to handle it. Despite a good performance by Vikrant Massey the film’s convenient screenplay, one sided narrative and tonal inconsistencies kill the impact.
Critics are saying the film is too simplistic like propaganda films of The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story. The narrative lacks depth and nuance and random comedy and a jarring background score disrupts the tone of the film.

Vikrant Massey’s performance is inconsistent, good moments are marred by weak ones. His character’s sudden transformation into a Kabir Singh like persona is out of place and kills the film’s overall flow.
The film’s direction and editing can’t balance the serious subject with the commercial elements. The film doesn’t focus on the emotional weight of the tragedy.
