The Palisades neighborhood in California, known for its celebrity homes is burning in flames with Indian-Americans coming out to share their horrific experiences.
Moira Shourie, an Indian-origin resident, described the scene as “absolute devastation.” She claims there are only small pockets of one or two houses left standing in the region as her family was forced to evacuate to a downtown hotel in Los Angeles.

The US officials and stars have also reacted and sent out prayers for the neighborhood that burned down the homes of celebrities like Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton. President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris canceled their international visits in the wake of this disaster calling it “apocalyptic.”
While the main cause of this catastrophe is still not known, it is suspected that dry weather and climate change are the main culprits, with strong winds making it impossible to control the fire. Firefighters are trying their best to save everyone but so far 10 people have lost their lives caught in the flames.

It has burned over 17,000 acres, with 360,000 people currently displaced. Indian star and US resident, Priyanka Chopra sent out her wishes to the families, sharing a devastating video of the fire on social media.
This calamity is a harsh reminder of the drastic effects of climate Change for LA residents. With the 2028 Olympics scheduled in the city, the government will look to rebuild the affected regions as soon as they can.
