Linda De Sousa Abreu, a former officer at HMP Wandsworth, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for having sex with an inmate. The incident was caught on video, which quickly went viral online, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation.
The video, which was filmed between June 26 and 28, is not a private recording. It was deliberately created to be shared, with the inmate providing commentary as the “camera operator.” The footage spread rapidly, raising questions about prison security and ethical violations.

Judge Martin Edmunds KC confirmed that the footage appeared to be made for public viewing, possibly for platforms like OnlyFans. He emphasized that such deliberate actions undermined the sanctity of the prison system.
Abreu, who is in her 30s and married, admitted to misconduct in public office. She was arrested at Heathrow Airport while trying to flee to Madrid with her father, further complicating her case.

Investigators found additional recordings, including footage on her body-worn camera, showing this was not an isolated incident but part of repeated behavior. This discovery further damaged her credibility in court.
The governor of Wandsworth Prison said Abreu’s actions had damaged the reputation of female staff, making them targets of inappropriate behavior from inmates. He called it a setback after years of effort to build respect in male prisons.

The Prison Service promised to crack down on corruption, emphasizing that the vast majority of staff are hardworking and honest. Meanwhile, some pointed out that had it not been recorded, the inmate could have faced charges of sexual misconduct, adding to the controversy.
Linda has come out on her Instagram with an apology video. Stating “you do not know my side of the story.”
