Newcastle supporters hilariously interrupted the post-match broadcast of an Arsenal fan channel following the Magpies’ stunning 2-0 win at the Emirates.

Eddie Howe‘s side put themselves in a commanding position to reach the final of the Carabao Cup, as goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon sunk the Gunners in last-four first-leg.

Jubilant Magpies fans were rewarded for their long trek to north London after a result that had them dreaming of ending the club’s 69-year wait for a major trophy.

And some of those supporters were keen to make their voices heard even after leaving the ground, with a group of them mobbing the broadcast of a presumably downbeat Arsenal fan channel.

In a clip that was uploaded to X, formerly Twitter, supporters can be heard chanting ‘Sandri Ole Ole Ole’ in reference to their Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has starred for Eddie Howe’s side following his return from a lengthy ban.

Another shining light for the Magpies on Tuesday night was longtime Gunners target Isak, who netted his 14th goal in 15 games.

Gunners boss Arteta praised the Swedish striker’s prowess in front of goal after the game.

‘The ball arrived to him, he created and had a lot of big chances,’ said the Spaniard. ‘He was involved in both goals as well.

‘Unfortunately the two times he had the ball in the box and that’s what happens when you have real quality up front and they can make the difference, and they’re very clinical.’

The Gunners boss also offered a bizarre explanation for his side’s unexpected loss, which has raised fears among the fanbase of another trophyless season.

‘We also kicked a lot of balls over the bar, and it’s tricky that these balls fly a lot so there’s details that we can do better,’ he added post match. ‘But at the end that’s gone, there’s no way back it’s about the next game and that’s our world, the reality.’

When pressed further on the issue, Arteta added: ‘No, it’s just different. It’s very different to the Premier League ball and you have to adapt to that.

‘It flies different… when you touch it, the grip is very different as well so you have to adapt to that.’

In the Carabao Cup, a Puma ball is used, whereas a Nike ball is used in the Premier League.

Arsenal will try to overturn their deficit when the two sides meet at St James’ Park in the second leg on February 5.
