It has now become a mainstream trend in Tollywood for two-parter films. The likes of Devara, Kalki, and Pushpa have all followed the same path in recent times.
However, there is one principal complaint about this from the common audience. This is regarding the tendency of the makers of these films to misstep in the name of sequels.

In the case of Devara, there were several complaints about how the story was badly diluted, just so that the second part can have just enough juice. The ending of Pushpa 2 also faced complaints of forced manoeuvre to create Pushpa 3.
As it appears the next two-part film from Tollywood is Vijay Deverakonda’s VD12. The same was confirmed by producer Naga Vamsi recently.

However, Vijay Deverakonda will not have as much leeway as NTR or Bunny when it comes to rounded products.
There is already a lot of emphasis on this film as it is projected to be a make-it-or-break-it film for Vijay. So, he simply will have to deliver big time without any chance for error this time around.

The prospect of a two-parter might sound interesting on paper but considering Vijay’s current need for a sureshot winning commercial film, he must make sure that this upcoming film itself has enough impetus.
NTR was anyway spared at the box office despite a diluted first part for the sake of a juicy second part. This can’t be expected to happen all the time. So, Vijay, with what could be considered the most important film in his career thus far, must surely deliver with his upcoming one which is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
This film is currently in the final leg of shooting, and it is tentatively gearing up for release next summer. It is billed to be a slick actioner and coincidentally it is the first two-parter from Sithara Entertainments.
