The long-pending grievances of nomadic communities and tribals pertaining to lack of civic amenities, including access to toilets, housing etc., would be resolved soon.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy at a review meeting pertaining to grievances of nomadic communities from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the Adivasis.

Mr. Reddy said there were other issues as well, including lack of land for cultivation, caste certificate, absence of burial grounds, and electricity issues. A meeting would be convened of the officials concerned and the district administration would seek an action taken report so that the issues were resolved, he added.

Mr. Reddy said the district administration was serious about the pending grievances and the revenue officials concerned would be deputed to resolve them. ‘’Each complaint received will be accorded a number and it will be resolved within a month,’’ he said.

Revenue officials, including tahsildars, were instructed to pay site visit to apprise themselves of the grievances and submit a report to the Deputy Commissioner.

Representatives from various communities submitted written complaints pertaining to pending issues and grievances at the meeting.

C.S. Dwarakanath, former chairman of Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, Deputy Conservator of Forest Basavaraj and others were present.
