Hyderabad is a city that takes its food seriously. From iconic biryanis to trendy cafes, the love for great food runs deep. But a recent hygiene scandal at a popular Cafe has left food lovers in the city disappointed.
A video by food content creator Urvashi Agarwal went viral, exposing shocking conditions in the cafe’s kitchen. The video reveals flaking ceilings, reused oil, unlabelled raw materials, and slippery floors. Not exactly what you’d expect from a place that prides itself on ambiance and “gourmet” vibes.

The video has sparked outrage online. One user commented, “Had they spent even 10% of their interior decor budget on kitchen hygiene…” Another wrote, “Wish we had strict food safety rules like in the Middle East.” Many agreed that restaurant kitchens should be open to customers, though one admitted, “I know it’s not possible.”
The Telangana Food Safety Department quickly inspected the cafe. While it holds an FSSAI license and its staff have medical fitness certificates, issues like slippery floors and missing insect-proof screens were noted.

For a city that lives and breathes food, this has been a wake-up call. Hyderabadis don’t just want good food; they want it clean.
Maybe it’s time for all restaurants to focus less on mood lighting and more on kitchen standards. After all, a meal is only as good as the kitchen it comes from.
