2024 gave us many shows and series. Some good, some average and some disappointing. From Citadel: Honey Bunny, Panchayat Season 3, Call Me Bae, Mirzapur Season 3, and a lot more, we had a busy year keeping up with all of them.
Some originals were worth our time, a good one-time watch, while some really didn’t live up to their hype.

One such show this year was Heeramandi-The Diamond Bazaar.
Directed by the celebrated director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the show was his debut in OTT. The show had a stellar cast of actors – Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta and Taha Shah Badussha.

The sets were immaculate, the costume design was on point, and the show reeked of Bhansali and his style.
While it was one of the biggest hits for Netflix which reeled in a bigger viewership on the platform, it was also one of the most trolled.

People were not a huge fan of the over-the-top performances, the gaudy sets and the boring lengthy conversations between characters.
While all these would have worked on the big screen, it wasn’t appreciated by the OTT audience.
Despite being so disliked, Heeramandi sat among the list of Google’s top-searched movies and shows of 2024 globally.
It is the only Indian series that made its name among international shows. Bhansali’s Heeramandi was at the 4th position globally in GooglTrends’ds top-searched movies and shows of 2024. Trending on number one position was Baby Reindeer followed by Fallout and House Of The Dragon.
Apart from this, the show also topped IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Web Series of 2024.
Heeramandi is also going to be renewed for a new season in 2026. Meanwhile, Bhansali is now set to direct Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt together in his upcoming movie, Love & War.
