Delhi Elections Aravind Kejriwal Crushes Congress’s Hopes

Former Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party Chief, Aravind Kejriwal confirmed that his party will not be joining hands with the Congress in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections.

Notably, AAP is a member of the Congress Party’s INDI Alliance. However, it decided to contest alone in the Delhi elections, limiting its alliance with Congress only to the Lok Sabha elections.

Yesterday, Aravind Kejriwal attended the INDI bloc meeting regarding the alleged tampering of EVMs and VVPAT machines in the Maharashtra assembly election. Since then, it has been rumoured that AAP and Congress were in talks regarding seat sharing and finally, they decided to give 15 seats to Congress and 1-2 seats to other INDI alliance parties.

Refuting these reports, Aravind Kejriwal wrote, “Aam Aadmi party will be fighting this election on its own strength in Delhi. There is no possibility of any alliance with Congress.”

Reportedly, AAP decided to not ally with Congress when both parties failed to reach an agreement during the seat sharing of the recent Haryana assembly elections.

In the 2020 Delhi Elections, AAP got 62 assembly seats, BJP won eight and Congress failed to win a single seat. After the recent failures in Haryana and Maharashtra Elections, an alliance with AAP would have helped Congress bounce back at the national level.

However, with AAP refusing to join hands and deciding to contest alone, it would be a herculean task for Congress to make a mark in the Delhi elections.
