JAMMU: National Conference chief, Farooq Abdullah, on Tuesday pressed for the restoration of J&K statehood at the earliest, reminding the Centre of its promise. “Union government should deliver on its pledge in Supreme Court,” he told reporters in Kathua.
A day after BJP demanded a CBI probe to identify the facilitators helping Rohingyas and Bangladeshis illegally settle in Jammu, Abdullah said, “Centre brought the refugees here. As long as they are here, it is our duty to provide them with water and electricity.”
Dismissing the concept of “double engine govt”, Abdullah said, “There must be only one power centre in J&K and that is the elected govt in the UT.”
