Actor Kamal Haasan’s production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, will on Monday stream on its YouTube channel the recording of the four-day film festival titled Apoorva Singeetham, which was held earlier this year to honour the work of veteran film-maker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao.
Several of Mr. Rao’s films with Mr. Haasan were screened during the festival. Discussions with famous film industry colleagues, including composer A.R. Rahman, were held at the event.
Prolific film-maker
The prolific film-maker has collaborated with Mr. Haasan in a number of films, including Raja Paarvai, Aboorva Sagotharargal, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, and Pesum Padam, some of which were some of the actor’s biggest of hits. Apart from his collaboration with Mr. Haasan, Mr. Rao has made around 60 films across several languages and has won two National Film Awards and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 from the Film Federation of India.
Some of the duo’s marquee films such as Raja Paarvai, Pesum Padam, Aboorva Sagodharargal, and Mumbai Xpress were screened at the film festival. Several renowned personalities from the film industry, including director Mani Ratnam and lyricist Vairamuthu, and those who were part of these films such as music composer Ilaiaraja, Amala Akkineni, P.C. Sreeram, and actors Nasser and Pasupatthy participated in the discussions that followed the screening.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, K.S. Ravikumar, Mahesh Narayanan, and Kiruthiga Udayanidhi, actors Sivakarthikeyan, Siddharth, Santhana Bharathi, Y.G. Mahendra, the late Delhi Ganesh, M.S. Bhaskar, Kovai Sarala, Subbu Panchu, and Nizhalgal Ravi, actor-musician Shruti Haasan, actor and film-maker Sasi Kumar, cinematographers Rajiv Menon and Ravi K. Chandran, stunt choreographers Anbariv, composer Devi Sri Prasad, among others participated in the event.
