The old Telangana Thalli design depicts Mother Telangana holding Bathukamma in one hand and rice crops in the other, adorned with a crown and ornaments.

On the other side, the new design shows Mother Telangana wearing a green saree, holding rice crops in one hand, and showing “Abhaya Hastam” with the other. Although not officially announced, this new design is being widely circulated as the updated version of Telangana Thalli.

Meanwhile, a section of people, particularly BRS leaders and supporters, are heavily criticizing the new design. They argue that it omits Bathukamma (the state festival) and the crown (a symbol of royalty).

They also claim that the “Abhaya Hastam” gesture was included solely to align with the Congress symbol. They satirically added that the new design symbolically suggests Telangana will become poor under Congress rule.

On the other hand, Congress supporters and leaders have praised the design, calling it culturally authentic and perfect. They opined that it is way better than the old design.
