After a series of threats made to Salman Khan and his family, he finally upgraded his ride. Salman Khan was spotted in a bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser, which is a first for him. While Salman Khan owns a slew of high-end luxury SUVs, the Land Cruiser is likely to be his only car for a long time to come.
Salman Khan chose the previous generation Land Cruiser LC200 for himself. While Toyota does not make OEM armoured vehicles like many European manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Land Rover and Audi, there are many aftermarket garages that can put armour on the SUV.

These specialised services are offered by many professional garages. Even brands like Mahindra Armoured Vehicles provide armour to the vehicles. While the exact specifications of such armour are not out in public, there are several levels of protection that these aftermarket manufacturers provide for their clients. OEM armour vehicles offer an international standard of protection level and come with ratings like VR9 or VR10.
The armouring jobs are done in a subtle way. You may not even be able to differentiate armoured vehicles from a regular vehicles. However, there are several changes that reveal that the vehicle has armour. First of these signs is to notice the thickness of the window glass.
Since the armour increases the weight of the vehicle, they become quite sluggish. The heavy bulletproof glasses and heavy armour add hundreds of kilos of weight. Even the suspension is tweaked to handle the additional weight. However, with the stock engine, the armoured vehicle feels very sluggish.
Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 launched in India
After a long period, Toyota officially introduced the Land Cruiser LC300 in India. The latest SUV gets a price tag of Rs 2.1 core and is available in a single variant.
The Land Cruiser J300 has been brought to India in a single fully-loaded trim. For the Indian car market, Toyota has brought the Land Cruiser J300 with a single powertrain option of a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine. Available with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, this engine produces a maximum power output of 309 PS. The Land Cruiser J300 is also available with the 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine and a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine overseas, both of which have been kept away from the Indian market for the time being.
Built on a heavily-revised GA-F body-on-frame platform, the Toyota Land Cruiser J300 gets a lowered centre of gravity, lower kerb weight and improved suspension structure over its predecessor. The SUV comes with an upgraded electronic kinetic dynamic suspension and a more advanced multi-terrain select system with deep snow and auto modes and a multi-terrain monitor system.
The Toyota Land Cruiser J300 is packed with premium luxurious features like a sunroof, power front seats with memory function, front seat ventilation, wireless charger, and a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. For the Indian market, the Toyota Land Cruiser J300 will be offered only in a single five-seater configuration, which will be brought in limited numbers owing to very strong demand for the SUV globally.
