The BJP has been trying to gain strength in Telangana for a long time. It gained good momentum before 2023 and looked like a formidable force to tackle BRS. However, Congress got a sudden momentum last year and eventually, it defeated both BRS and BJP in the assembly elections.
The BJP was quick to learn from its failures and bounced back well in the parliament elections by winning eight out of 17 Lok Sabha seats and gaining 35% of the vote share.

Now, we hear that the party is aiming to maintain the same momentum in the upcoming panchayat elections. The high command is making necessary corrections to strengthen its base from the ground level. Recently, it conducted a membership drive, and more than 35 lakh people were registered with the party.
With this huge cadre, the BJP is now planning to form various committees right from the village level. These committees will be used at various polling booths in the upcoming gram panchayat and municipal elections. The BJP is planning to allocate committees to at least 25,000 polling booths out of the 36,000 total booths in the state.

The party is planning to hold internal elections and allot presidents at various levels within the party, from the village level to the state level. These committees will be trained to strengthen the party’s base from the rural level during the gram panchayat elections.
The state-level senior leaders like Kishan Reddy and Etela Rajender are working towards the same and are planning to finish the internal party elections and allocations this month so that committees can be trained in time for the panchayat elections.

Compared to AP, the BJP has a strong emerging base in Telangana, and thus, the leadership is planning to make the most use of it and win as many seats as possible in the upcoming rural elections.
The cadre feels that a good performance at the ground-level elections would make the party perform well in the 2028 Assembly Elections and give a strong chance to defeat both BRS and Congress.
