Revanth Reddy Steps Back BRS Celebrates

The government of Telangana took a back step in the land acquisition in Lagacherla village in CM Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency. The notification which was released on August 1st for the 632-acre land acquisition, belonging to 580 farmers, has been withdrawn. This land acquisition was started to set up a pharma hub.

There have been severe protests made by the local villagers and farmers demanding the government to stop the land acquisition process. Things got heated up when the Vikarabad Collector and a few other government officials were attacked by the villagers when they visited to examine the land acquisition progress.

After that incident, many villagers were arrested and tight security was deployed in Lagacherla and other villages which were under the land acquisition. Former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy was alleged due to his alleged involvement in the attack against the government officials.

The villagers, with the support of the opposition BRS party, staged various protests and filed multiple complaints against the setting up of this pharma hub and to stop the land acquisition process. Eventually, after many days of agitation, the government has now came down and withdrew its decision.

While BRS is celebrating the moment as its victory, Congress supporters opined that the government took a back step considering the request from the people.

Reportedly, the government is planning to an industrial park in these locations. Prominence will be given to the textile park, which will be eco-friendly and also provide huge employment opportunities for the local people. A notification for the same is expected to be released soon.
