Horror has become the biggest genre in Bollywood in 2024 with Shaitaan, Munjya, Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. With a perfect blend of humor, suspense and supernatural it has become a huge hit this year.
Numbers are telling. Shaitaan had ₹149 cr at the beginning of the year, Munjya was at ₹103 cr. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is at ₹234.92 cr as of now and is all set to cross ₹400 cr worldwide but Stree 2 was a blockbuster at ₹585 cr.

These work because they have magical elements and Indian folklore. Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 combined comedy and horror to scare and entertain the audience but Munjya and Shaitaan showed us new take on old stories.
With Munjya proving that content is not star power that sells the horror genre is showing a change in consumer behavior. These movies have worked because of their story and cultural relevance.

Bollywood 2024 has undoubtedly been horror defined and broken records and audience. This genre has become the real star of the year by merging creative storytelling with cultural concerns.
