Former Liverpool forward Fabio Carvalho has been told to leave Brentford by his father in a now deleted social media post.

Carvalho joined Brentford in the summer in a £27.5million move from Liverpool having been of interest to several Premier League clubs.

The Portuguese forward has had limited game time at Brentford to date, making just two starts in the Premier League.

Carvalho, however, had been involved in each of the Bees matches in the top flight this season until their goalless draw against Everton on Saturday.

Thomas Frank‘s side were reduced to 10-men at Goodison Park, but held out to earn a point against the Toffees.

Brentford shared the result on Instagram at the final whistle with the caption ‘A solid point on the road for the ten man Bees’.

Carvalho’s father Victor expressed his frustration at his son’s lack of involvement despite the result, writing ‘Son, you have to leave this club.’

The post has since been deleted.

Carvalho had previously admitted his father had played a key role in convincing him to sign for Brentford in the summer.

After signing a long-term deal at the club, Carvalho revealed Victor had encouraged him to make the move to West London.

‘I’ve watched a lot of Brentford, especially when they played against teams in the top six: they always put in a fight and that’s exactly what you want to see,’ Carvalho said in August.

‘When I was on the bench for Liverpool for the away game two seasons ago [the 3-1 win], Brentford were all over us!

‘But I’ve been keeping an eye out for Brentford; my dad watched the Benfica [pre-season] game because he’s a massive Benfica supporter and said, ‘Look, Brentford have got a good team’.

Carvalho has made 14 appearances in total since joining Brentford in the summer, but the majority have come as a substitute.

The Portuguese forward has scored two goals for his new club, netting one in the Premier League against Wolves, as well as a strike in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield Wednesday.

Carvalho had played 21 times for Liverpool before his move to Brentford, having joined the Reds from Fulham in a £5million move in 2021.

During his time at Liverpool, Carvalho had an unsuccessful loan at RB Leipzig last season leading to him being recalled by the club

He then enjoyed a more productive loan spell at Hull City after joining in January, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances for the Championship side.

Brentford are currently 11th in the Premier League after earning 17 points from their 12 matches to date.
