In recent years, films with strong emotional sentiments around female characters have always resonated with the Chinese audience, such as Aamir Khan’s Dangal, Secret Superstar, Rani Mukerji’s Hichki, and even Sridevi’s last film MOM.
Maharaja has a strong father-daughter sentiment with a gruesome revenge angle and a shocking redemption. If the core emotion of the film connects with the Chinese audience, Maharaja could turn out to be a huge blockbuster.

The potential for box office collections from the Chinese release is immense.
If Maharaja performs well at the box office, it could gross an estimated 700 crore. This is based on an average of $2,000 per screen for a well-accepted film in China. With 40,000 screens, the film could rake in about $80 million, or INR 700 crores, with positive word of mouth.
Dangal remains the highest-grossing Indian film in China, earning 1,300 crores.
