Jamili Elections In 2027 Or 2029?

Jamili Elections In 2027 Or 2029?

BJP and its allies comfortably winning the Maharashtra Assembly Elections has nothing for the YSR Congress but the party is trying to take a positive.

YSR Congress believes that buoyed by this victory, BJP will go for ‘One Nation – One Election’ polls in 2027.

YSR Congress leaders are saying it repeatedly to keep the leaders and cadres motivated and to stick to the party. A Three years wait is much more comfortable than a five-year wait in politics.

The logic behind 2027 Jamili is that the BJP wants to go to the election with this momentum without accumulating anti-incumbency for two more years.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu says One Nation, One Election will happen but the elections will happen only in 2029.

So, will the elections happen in 2027 or 2029?

The Bill for the ‘One Nation One Election’ will be brought before Parliament at the Winter Session. The Bill has to be passed in both houses of the Parliament with a two-thirds majority since the constitution has to be amended.

That means 362 in Lok Sabha & 167 in Rajya Sabha. Along with that, fourteen states have to okay the proposal. The states should not be a problem as BJP is in power in many states but it is not an easy task in the Parliament.

Even if that is done, there are several time-consuming issues.

The Census has to be completed and the delimitation has to be done after that. The Delimitation of Parliament Seats is mandatory as per the Law.

The Census was supposed to happen in 2021 but was delayed due to the Pandemic. The Census is going to begin in 2025 and Delimitation that begins after that may go on until 2028.

After the Delimitation, the 33% Reservation to Women has to be implemented before the next elections.

All these are not simple issues to be finished in three years. Probably, considering all this, Chandrababu Naidu may have told the Jamili elections will happen only in 2029. As of now, that looks more realistic.
