On February 27th, 2019, the then Union Minister Piyush Goyal had announced the South Coastal Railways with Vishakapatnam as the headquarters.
The announcement came just before the elections for obvious reasons and the Minister back then announced that the zone will come into existence in four to five months.

But nothing of such sort happened five years later as well. The Union government in its Budgets for the next five years had not mentioned about the new railway zone.
The Central Government announced that the then Jagan Government is not co-operating for the necessary land acquisition and so the project has got delayed.

It’s been five years the new Government has come in Andhra Pradesh and finally there is some movement in the Railway Zone.
The Railway Ministry had issued a Notice inviting Tenders for the construction to set up the South Coastal Railway Zone.

The Tenders will close on December 27th. It will take 24 Months for the completion. This is considered as the First Step in realising the Dream of a Separate Railway Zone for the People of Uttarandhra.
