Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti was considered to be one of the best political thrillers ever made over the years. With an ensemble star cast, the film’s engaging storyline and screenplay managed to impress the audiences sitting in front of the big screen.
Prakash has recently stated that he is currently working on a sequel and Ranbir Kapoor will reprise his role.

Prakash mentioned that there won’t be a new storyline, adding that although Samar Pratap has left India, he will remain an important part.
However, he did not reveal anything else about bringing back the original cast members. Prakash addressed the same by saying that everything depends on the decisions of the talent agencies.

The popular director continued and said that things have changed now considering that the situation was a little bit different a few years ago, where makers had to simply meet and narrate the story to an actor.
Although people consider Animal to be one of Ranbir’s best works so far, Raajneeti was also a project where Ranbir proved that he can portray any character. The negative shade of Samar Pratap also contributed to the film’s success at the time.

Ranbir has a long list of projects scheduled to arrive over the next few years. Raajneeti 2 can also be a good choice for him since a lot of other things were left to be explored in his character.
Another factor that helped in the film’s success was that it was considered to be the modern day version of Mahabharat. The reason was the characters, where Ranbir and Ajay’s roles were based on Arjuna and Karna respectively.
Moreover, Prakash Jha has also not delivered a hit film after Raajneeti. Even though the films had good subjects, audiences failed to make a connection with them and they eventually flopped at the box office.
At this phase, Raajneeti 2 is the only way out for Prakash Jha to establish himself at the top spot again. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if he can rewrite an amazing script like he did last time.
