Captain Jamie George added: ‘We know it is not good enough but I hope the fans can see there is a lot of endeavour and fight in this team.
‘We want to be winning these games, we want to win them for the fans in the stadium and back home.
‘If they stick with us there are a lot of great players here who can do good things.
‘I couldn’t be more confident in the character of the people here and I am very optimistic about the future of this team.
‘In all the games we have played we have looked good at times but the final piece was not there.
‘Missed tackles, discipline, there have probably been different causes over the five games and we have got to get our heads down and hopefully things will go our way.
‘What I guarantee is we are working very, very hard.Â

Borthwick added: ‘What’s more important is the feeling that I get.
‘The feeling I get from the RFU is absolute support, an absolute belief that this team is going in the right direction.’
