Director Venky Atluri has scored a resounding hit with Lucky Baskhar starring Malayalam hero Dulquer Salmaan. His last film Sir was also a big success, starring Tamil star Dhanush.
Telugu cinema fans on social media are trolling Venky Atluri. Being a Telugu guy, he made redundant romantic films like Rang De, Tholi Prema, and Mr. Majnu with Telugu heroes and made high-concept-based striking films with stars from other languages.

However, the truth is that the Telugu heroes themselves chose safe romantic subjects instead of off-beat films like Sir and Lucky Baskhar. It tells more about our heroes’ priorities than Venky Atluri’s.
Nani rejected Lucky Baskhar as he didn’t want to do a father role again after Jersey and Hi Nanna. Naga Chaitanya also declined Sir’s script.

So, it is no fault of Venky Atluri that he made off-beat and high-concept-based films with stars from other languages and routine romantic stories with Telugu heroes.
Let’s hope at least now our Telugu heroes realize Venky Atluri’s potential and give him a chance to direct them in a kickass ground breaking film.
