Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is known for making controversial comments against Sanatana Dharma and North India. Earlier, he compared Sanatana Dharma to coronavirus and sparked a huge outrage among people. He also often criticised the Hindi imposition in South India.
Recently, he delivered controversial comments against the Hindi film industry. Speaking at Kerala’s Hortus Literary Festival, Udhyanidhi Stalin questioned if there is any other language in North India, apart from Hindi, that has a vibrant film industry like South India. He said that all languages in North India were sidelined by Hindi.

He asserted that Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries thrived independently and survived as huge film industries whereas in North India, Bihari, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bhojpuri and other languages are extensively sidelined by the Hindi film industry aka Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi has been criticised for his comments by the rival parties. Tamil Nadu BJP Vice-President N Tirupathy accused Udhayanidhi of trying to divide the nation in the name of language. He alleged that Udhayanidhi doesn’t know anything about other film industry and is simply making false comments without knowing any facts.

Even people on social media expressed a divided opinion on Udhayanidhi’s comments. While some agreed with his points, others felt that he was unnecessarily bringing up non-related topics to divide people based on language.
