Saquon Barkley is mad for even thinking a backwards hurdle would work in an NFL game, much less having the gall to try it and pull it off, like he did for the Eagles against the Jaguars.Â
Early in the second quarter, Barkley ran a route into the flat and was found by Jalen Hurts for a completion.Â
Barkley made two defenders miss, including one with a spin move, before leaving his feet. And then came the butt-first hurdle that amazed the sports world.Â
Barkley’s 14-yard reception came to an end once he got back down to his feet, as he was tackled by a few Jacksonville defenders.Â
Hurdling players while running at them is fascinating enough, but adding in the timing of doing it blindly makes it a unique moment in NFL history. Â
Saquon Barkley attempted a backwards hurdle over a defender on Sunday against the Jaguars
‘This is truly insane. Like a Matrix scene on the football field,’ Outkick’s Clay Travis said on X.Â
Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones was the unfortunate Jacksonville player to have been jumped over by Barkley during the exchange. Â
More to come.Â
