After their defeat in the 2024 general elections, the YSR Congress Party has faced a huge setback in Andhra Pradesh. From a high of 151 seats in 2019, their count has come down to just 11 seats.
Since the loss, YCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and other party leaders have been giving various excuses for their poor performance. Initially, they alleged that they lost due to the tampering of the EVMs. They tried to convince their supporters and party members with this story. However, this explanation soon lost steam as party members wondered why Jagan hadn’t approached court till now if EVMs were tampered with.

As days passed, unrest grew within the party. Many YCP leaders have been defecting to either the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) or Janasena. Others were planning to switch as there was no use in staying at the party.
To save them, the YCP leaders, like Vijaya Sai Reddy, have been actively coming up with new plans and statements to save their party members and workers.

Today, during a meeting with party members in Tirupati, Vijaya Sai Reddy announced that general elections in Andhra Pradesh are expected to be held by the end of 2027. He asserted that YCP would reclaim the government at that time. He also said that it is the responsibility of the joint Chittoor district party president, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, to win all 14 seats in the district.
While YCP supporters are predicting the possibility of early elections under the One Nation One Election rule, it is evident that this claim is a just tactic by YCP to stop its cadre from jumping until 2027.
