This Diwali, there were two interesting releases: Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar and Kiran Abbavaram’s KA.
Both films had a very slow start at the U.S. box office, as they registered pretty ordinary premiere numbers followed by day one.

However, Friday saw a good jump, bringing Lucky Baskhar’s total to $305,156 and KA’s total to $214,901.
Today (Saturday) seems to be in favor of both films, most likely resulting in a repeat of Friday’s performance.

While Lucky Baskhar is underperforming, given Dulquer’s fame and Naga Vamsi’s Sithara production backing from a known director, Kiran Abbavaram’s KA, despite no fireworks, is heading toward becoming his first half-a-million-dollar film in North America, which is a first step in his journey.
