A shocking truth about Indian Railways has come out that raises concerns about the cleanliness and hygiene of AC coaches.
An RTI request disclosed that while the bed sheets and pillow covers in train coaches are washed after every journey, the same can’t be said about the blankets. The woolen bedding is only laundered once a month, depending on their condition.

This is extremely careless behavior from Indian Railways. Despite including an extra charge for the bedding in ticket prices, passengers are getting month-old dirty blankets.
It got more appalling when the media reached out to the housekeeping staff in these coaches. They revealed that sometimes blankets are not washed for up to six months if they don’t show any signs of wear, odors, or stains.

On the one hand, the government promises a world-class railway network but what is its use if there is no basic cleanliness? They impose fees on AC coaches at par with developed countries but they offer services like a third-world country!
Passengers deserve better standards for their comfort and safety. It’s time for Indian Railways to prioritize hygiene and rethink their bedding practices to ensure a more pleasant journey for travelers.
