Golden Age of Prime Video Coming to an End?”

Golden Age of Prime Video Coming to an End?”

Starting in 2025, Amazon Prime Video subscribers in India will see advertisements during shows and movies. Amazon claims this change is necessary to continue investing in content. This decision follows a recent update to their subscription model in the U.S.

Amazon stated that they plan to include “limited advertisements” but did not specify what type of ads would be shown. The company aims to provide fewer ads than its competitors. Currently, no streaming service shows ads to paid subscribers in India.

While platforms like ZEE5 and Disney+ Hotstar offer a freemium model with ads for free content, Amazon Prime Video has only offered ad-free viewing.

Amazon also provides free streaming through its miniTV platform, which has recently been rebranded as Amazon MX Player.

Prime subscribers can access a wide range of movies and shows, including popular originals like Panchayat and Mirzapur. They also have a Prime Lite subscription available, which costs less but includes ads and lower video quality.

Amazon confirmed that they won’t raise Prime subscription prices in 2025, but they will introduce an additional ad-free option with details coming later.
