Chandrababu Naidu Continues Follow-Up on Free Sand

TDP’s initiative to provide free sand in Andhra Pradesh aimed to ease the burden on real estate and daily wage workers by ensuring that sand is available without cost, except for handling charges like loading, unloading, and transportation. This policy was meant to give a significant boost to the construction industry and daily laborers, making it easier for people to build homes without the heavy expenses of purchasing sand.

However, the implementation of this policy faced hurdles as alliance party MLAs reportedly misused their influence, charging extra amounts per tractor load of sand. This led to increased costs for the people, countering the original purpose of the free sand initiative.

In response, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu issued strict warnings to the alliance MLAs, emphasizing that the misuse of power would not be tolerated. He reaffirmed his commitment to making the free sand policy work efficiently and benefit the common people.

As a corrective measure, Naidu approved the idea of private management for sand reaches to ensure proper regulation alongside the existing free sand reaches. This move was intended to improve transparency and accountability in sand distribution.

Naidu demanded that the free sand scheme be effectively implemented within ten days and insisted that the real beneficiaries—the common people—should receive the full benefits of this policy. He also voiced his concern over middlemen who were inflating sand costs, reiterating that the policy’s goal was to alleviate the financial burden of house construction.

The CM’s actions highlighted his determination to maintain the integrity of the program and eliminate any exploitation by intermediaries.
